She Said, "Yes!"

Updated: 4 days ago

A few months ago we got a nice email from Sean, asking whether we could help him with his plans to propose to Kenzie at the lighthouse. Of course, we said yes!

The cover story we all cooked up was that Sean had arranged for one of our private off-season tours of the Point Wilson lightstation during their planned visit to Port Townsend. Mel, Point Wilson's Property Manager, would be a photographer there take some shots to promote visiting us (she actually is a professional photographer who does weddings, among other things), and I'd be a volunteer docent guiding the tour, something I've done often.

In addition, members of Kenzie's family arranged to come to the vacation rental in the keeper's duplex before the "tour." The duplex's second floor windows would let them observe the whole scene, and the venue is a great place to celebrate after the event.

Everything was set. Mel sent Sean a confirmation with details about the special tour for him to show to Kenzie.

On the day, the weather was perfect. All the visitors and their cars were hidden out of sight as Mel and I met Sean and Kenzie at the gate. All normal like.

We walked down the sand path next to the sea wall, talking about lighthouses and acting as nonchalant as we could. As we drew near the lighthouse, we stopped for a "photo op."

Things happened fast, the plot changed direction, and she said "Yes!"
