Thank You for Making It Shine! — What a day!
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, over a thousand visitors gathered under blue skies at Point Wilson Lighthouse to help us celebrate something truly special — the restoration and relighting of our original 1894 Fresnel lens. We called it the Celebration of the Light, and thanks to you, it became exactly that: a bright, joyful, unforgettable community event.
The weather (warm and calm — practically unheard of at Point Wilson!) set the perfect stage. Every vendor, performer, artist, poet, and volunteer who signed up to be part of the day showed up with energy and enthusiasm. Our incredible volunteers opened the lighthouse for tours, helped manage the crowds, and made sure everything ran smoothly from setup to tear-down.
We had high hopes after all the buzz from media coverage and word-of-mouth, but even so, we were amazed by the turnout. Just over 1,000 people signed in at the main entrance, and we know many more arrived via the beach, the trail along the seawall, or simply wandered in as word spread. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces exploring the buildings and grounds, learning about lighthouse history, and enjoying the festivities.
And oh, the music! Cold Comfort, Marco Marco, and Afterlife Gift Shop all played fantastic sets to lively crowds throughout the afternoon. Between the music, food, games, and tours — and the radiant presence of the newly lit lens — the whole place felt like it was glowing.
The feedback we heard from visitors was resoundingly positive:“Beautiful day.” “Great bands!” “So glad we came.” And we, the team behind the scenes, couldn’t agree more.
To relive the magic — or get a taste of what you missed — check out this short video recap.
A huge Thank You to everyone who helped make this day happen — volunteers, performers, vendors, sponsors, and every single person who came out to share in the celebration. The lens is shining once again, and so is the community that brought it back to life.
We can’t wait to see you at Point Wilson again soon!
